Selling metal to us as a business or as a private individual
A Straightforward Process, Properly Documented
We purchase metal from both trade businesses and private individuals. The process is straightforward, but identity verification is required on every purchase. Please read the information below before contacting us.
Selling as a Trade or Business Seller
We actively buy from construction companies, electrical contractors, plumbers, demolition firms, manufacturing businesses and any commercial operation that produces surplus metal day to day.
For businesses with a regular supply, we set up a trade account with agreed pricing, collection arrangements and consolidated invoicing.
What we need from business sellers
- Company name and Companies House registration number
- Registered office or trading address
- Photo ID for the director or employee conducting the transaction
- Bank account details for the business
- Brief description of the source of the material
Selling as a Private Individual
We also purchase from private individuals — clearing a property, completing a renovation or selling metal that has accumulated over time. The same identity verification rules apply regardless of the value or volume of the material.
What we need from private sellers
- Valid government-issued photo ID — passport or full UK driving licence
- Proof of address dated within the last three months
- Bank account details in your own name (BACS payment)
- Brief description of where the material came from
Benefits of Opening a Trade Account
Why We Cannot Pay Cash
UK law prohibits dealers from paying cash for metal. This applies to every transaction, regardless of value, and we comply in full.
All payments are made by BACS bank transfer to the seller’s verified account. Payment is typically received within one working day, and often on the same day depending on your bank.
We will not accept requests to pay in cash, to pay part in cash or to make payments to a third party’s account. If you are not able to provide a bank account in your own name, we are unable to complete the purchase.
Preparing Your Material for Sale
Separate by metal type.
Mixed loads are priced at the lowest grade present. Separate before collection for the best price.
Remove non-metallic attachments.
Plastic fittings, rubber seals and insulation reduce the grade and the price.
Strip insulated cable where you can.
Bare copper wire achieves a significantly higher price than insulated cable.
Keep ferrous and non-ferrous apart.
Keep ferrous and non-ferrous material in separate loads where possible.
